Annual Business Meeting Followed by Dinner Presentation:

Understanding the Impact of the Heroin Epidemic

Speaker: Nina Drinnan, MSN, CRNP

Drinnan has worked in nursing for 30 years, the last 7 of which have been as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Penn Foundation. Also board-certified in Adult Health and Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Drinnan earned her graduate degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Drinnan explores a national crisis—the heroin epidemic. Over the course of more than a decade it has grown into a problem that is destroying lives across the country—regardless of age, race, wealth, or geographic location. In 2016, the number of drug-related deaths in Pennsylvania alone totaled 4600. Locally, Bucks and Montgomery counties both ranked in the top 8 of Pennsylvania counties for drug-related deaths. Drinnan will discuss how we got here, the impact on our community, and what we can do as medical communicators to help combat this epidemic.
